(Beef, Potato and Onion Stew)

There must be many Swedes who remember this dish from the Sunday dinner of their childhood. The whole dish is cooked in one large casserole, which worked well in a ship's gallery, which is where the name comes from. Carrots aren't included in the original recipe, but I think they make it even better. Pickled beetroot and pickled cucumbers are traditional accompaniments.
